Students Discover Wireless Sensor Networks with IQRF Alliance

On 22 January 2026, students of the Computer Science program at the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Systems (ZSEiT) attended a guest lecture and workshop led by Sebastian Hoop, representing the IQRF Alliance.

The session focused on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and their role in modern IoT systems. During the first part of the lecture, students were introduced to the concept of WSN, the development of the IQRF technology, and the activities of the Czech technology company MICRORISC, which develops the IQRF platform.

In the second part, students took part in hands-on workshops, where they worked directly with IQRF wireless modules and the IQRF IDE development environment, gaining practical experience with building and managing wireless sensor networks.

The event was organized by Dr. Eng. Kazimierz Kamuda, with the cooperation of MSc Eng. Nikita Bailuk, as part of the course Intelligent Sensor Networks.

IQRF is a wireless communication platform based on mesh network topology, operating in the ISM bands 433, 868, and 916 MHz. The technology is designed for applications in the Internet of Things (IoT), building automation, and Industry 4.0.
